Scuba.com Instructor Carries the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) February 26, 2010 -- Darrick Cusick, a scuba instructor for Scuba.com (http://www.scuba.com/) recently helped keep the Olympic spirit alive by carrying the Olympic torch during the multi-leg relay leading up to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Cusick took some time off from his duties at Scuba.com to volunteer for this important occasion.
Sharing about his experience, Cusick exclaims: "This was something I'll never forget my entire life. I've had the pleasure of scuba diving to the serenading sound of humpback whales while I chased manta rays, so I am not easily amazed. But to be part of the history of the Olympic Games is just such an occasion that can inspire the feeling of 'WOW.'"
Cusick, along with his younger brother, were among the more than 12,000 torch-bearers taking part in the relay which covered close to 28,000 miles over a span of approximately 100 days. His run with the Olympic torch took place near the end of the journey, on day 98 of the torch relay, near Gibson's Landing (an area between Vancouver and Whistler). As part of his Olympic experience, Cusick was also able to attend the Opening Ceremonies and watch a women's hockey event.
An avid scuba diver since 1994, Darrick is no stranger to traveling to new places. He has traveled extensively throughout North America and has been diving in every US state except Alaska. Darrick has been a Master Scuba Diver Trainer since 2005, and has trained hundreds of scuba divers in Hawaii.
Scuba.com is staffed by many experienced scuba instructors like Darrick whose duties include assembling customer's scuba gear, talking to customers about their diving questions via toll free phone (800-34-SCUBA), answering questions via live chat, providing service in Scuba.com's retail store and helping customers get the most out of their dive gear.
Perhaps someday a scuba-related event will be added to the Winter Olympics, but until that day the honor of carrying the torch is the next best way for a scuba instructor to participate in this international sporting occasion.
